Takata Air Bag Recall is Biggest Ever

Posted on - Saturday, May 16, 2015 under Dangerous Drugs & Products

Air Bag Recalls Extended to Over 33 Million Vehicles
Today is a great day for consumers worldwide. Takata Corporation has FINALLY agreed to declare a nationwide recall on over 33 million defective car air bags that explode causing shards of metal shrapnel to fly though the vehicle. The images of people with disfiguring injuries caused by these defective air bags are nauseating.

The most deplorable part of this saga is that, despite pleas by safety advocates and even national governments, Takata stood by its team of engineers arguing with government agencies about the size of any required recall and the actual cause of the air bag explosions. Thankfully, some car manufacturers took it upon themselves to beat Takata to the punch by issuing recalls of their vehicles and replacing the defective air bags.

Takata Put Corporate Interests Ahead of Its Consumers
Takata Corporation and its executives put their corporate billion-dollar goals over that of their individual consumer. The goal of any product manufacturer should be to provide safe products to the marketplace. It makes it all the more ironic that Takata is a manufacturer of safety devices. Takata failed the worldwide consumer by not addressing this dangerous situation sooner. Their excuses and any excuse to be offered in the future are complete horse crap.

Is Your Air Bag Part of the Recall?
A little over half of the 33 million vehicles involved in this national Takata recall have already been recalled by their manufacturer. To determine if your car is part of this air bag recall, go to http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Owners and enter in your car’s VIN number. Info on where to locate your car’s VIN number can be found HERE.

If your vehicle is part of this recall, contact the nearest manufacturer dealer to set up an appointment to have your dangerous Takata air bag replaced.
