2 Hurt on Motorcycle in Rome

According to the Rome News-Tribune, on Monday afternoon, a motorcycle driver and passenger were injured when the driver of a white Jeep Cherokee pulled in front of them.  The accident occurred on Shorter Avenue near the entrance of Church’s Chicken and IGA grocery store.  Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the Jeep Cherokee is being investigated for driving under the influence.  Authorities are awaiting blood test results of the Jeep driver.  The motorcycle rider and passenger were both taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Shorter Avenue is one of the busiest roads in Rome, Georgia.  It is no place for DUI drivers.  Rome, Floyd County, and all of the surrounding areas are some of the most popular motorcycle riding areas in the South.  Luckily, as it stands right now, no deaths were caused by this drunk driver in Rome, Georgia.  Our prayers are with all of the victims of this avoidable accident.
