Massive Verdicts in Early Vaginal Mesh Trials
Jury Awards California Woman $5.7 Million for Pain Caused by Bladder Sling
As reported by the Defective Medical Device Lawyers of The Parian Law Firm, LLC, manufacturers of products known as transvaginal mesh, vaginal mesh, pelvic mesh, and bladder slings are under the legal microscope for using a FDA speedy approval process to get the products to market. These products were used to treat women with pelvic floor issues and urinary incontinence. Sadly, the products are causing hundreds of thousands of women undue pain because they erode into the organs and tissue around the device.

    Mesh Manufacturers Urged to Settle
Earlier in March, a California jury awarded a woman $5.7 million for complications caused by transvaginal mesh. The jury in that case found the mesh manufacturer grossly negligent in bringing the pelvic mesh device to market. A West Virginia woman was awarded $3.27 million last year for similar complications. Finally, in 2013, a South Dakota woman was awarded $3.35 million.

A multi-district litigation (“MDL”) suit is currently pending in federal court in West Virginia. That MDL has cases from all over the country. Our lawyers at The Parian Law Firm, LLC are involved in the litigation. The federal judge assigned to the MDL case is urging the bladder sling manufacturers to look at settlement opportunities given the verdicts already obtained on behalf of people injured by the defective products.

The Parian Law Firm, LLC urges any woman having complications with any transvaginal mesh product or bladder/pelvic sling to seek immediate consultation with one of their experienced defective medical device lawyers. Our attorneys will be able to determine if you have a possible claim and are eligible for compensation. Time is always a crucial factor in medical products litigation. Settlements and verdicts in these cases can be large depending upon the severity of the side effects and number of revisional surgeries the client has underwent.
