Massive Chain Reaction Crash Kills One & Injures Dozens

Posted on - Sunday, January 11, 2015 under Car Accident

Buses were called in by the state police to evacuate the scene of a chain reaction crash in Battle Creek, Michigan on Friday, January 9, 2015.  The crash involved almost 200 cars, trucks, and tractor trailer trucks.  One of the tractor trailer trucks was carrying fireworks, which caused an explosion amid the chaos.  Another tractor trailer truck was carrying dangerous acid that caused damage to the interstate itself.  It is not clear what set off the chain reaction accident.  There are videos on the web showing cars slamming into one another.

Although chain reaction accidents of this size on major interstates are rare, much smaller chain reaction accidents are common.  The interstates in Metro Atlanta are some of the busiest in the nation.  Millions of cars and tractor trailer trucks travel through Georgia each year.  There are many factors that contribute to car accidents and tractor trailer accidents.  Weather, distracted driving, drunk driving, worn tires, and speeding are the most common causes of accidents.  At-fault drivers should be held accountable for their negligent actions that caused the crash.  Victims of car accidents should contact a car accidents attorney to have their situation fully evaluated.
