More Bad News for Patients on Blood Thinners

Alere Blood Monitors & Alere Test Strips Recalled

The news coming out of Washington DC just keeps getting scarier for patients on blood thinners such as Coumadin.  As discussed in an earlier article, Xarelto – a so-called new age blood thinner – is causing serious health problems for some taking the medication.  Now comes news that a blood testing device and the associated blood testing strips are potentially fatally dangerous to the patients using such medical devices.

Alere San Diego, Inc. has recalled all INRatio Monitors, INRatio2 Monitors, and INRatio Test Strips manufactured from April 1, 2008 through December 4, 2014.  According to the US Food & Drug Administration, almost 19,000 reports have come where the medical devices malfunctioned.  This can mean a life or death situation for the patient.  For more information on the recall and the affected products, CLICK HERE.

Drug and medical device manufacturers remain intent on getting products to the marketplace as quickly as possible.  While they have likely conducted their own tests on those drugs and medical devices, there can still remain unresolved questions about the products.  Many times, the problems found are not quick fixes.

Drug and medical device companies owe a duty to the patients using their products that those products are safe for use.  They also owe a duty to the doctors and healthcare professionals to which they sell those products to inform them with accurate medical data supporting the product’s use.  Most medical doctors are not scientists, and they have no clue what goes on behind closed laboratory doors.

The Alere Recall Attorneys of The Parian Law Firm, LLC stand on ready to review your potential product liability case.  Drug and medical device companies should know that we, the general public, will not tolerate half-shot science in an effort to push a product to the market.  Contact the Atlanta product liability attorneys of The Parian Law Firm, LLC today by calling (770) 727-5550 to discuss your legal options.
