Georgia Bar Sued for Serving Drunk Driver

Posted on - Thursday, February 4, 2016 under DUI

Two years ago, young Amy Bowman’s life was changed forever when she was hit by a drunk driver while walking along an Athens, Georgia road.  The car wreck left her with traumatic brain injuries, the effects of which she will never fully recover from.  The drunk driver was convicted for his actions and is presently serving 20 years in the Georgia Department of Corrections.

The pedestrian car accident occurred less than 2 miles from the bar where the drunk driver had been drinking.  An investigation by the drunk driving victim lawyers representing Ms. Bowman showed that the drunk driver had a history of getting belligerently drunk at the bar.  According to the lawsuit, the bar’s owners had no policy or procedure in place to ensure that drunk patrons did not injure themselves or get in their car to drive drunk.

The Parian Law Firm, LLC represents Georgia drunk driving victims.  Our Metro Atlanta DUI Accident Attorneys conduct similar investigations into the why the drunk driver is on the road.  Sometimes, that investigation leads us to a bar or restaurant where the drunk driver had been drinking.  Georgia and Alabama law both place dram shop liability or liquor liability, on establishments that serve people they know to be impaired.  If you or a loved one has been injured in a drunk driving accident, contact our Georgia DUI Car Accident Attorneys at (770) 727-5550.
